Is it time for a change? Swap your go-style for a new haircut inspired by the hottest styles in Hollywood! Here are some of the hottest new cuts, and how to get the looks!
Jennifer Aniston's "lob": The actress has come a long way since her "Rachel" cut, in fact, it's the new classic, says Allure. It can soften a strong jaw like Jen's or thin out a round face. Bring a photo of the cut to your salon – you don't to ask for the Jennifer Aniston cut and end up with the 90′s Rachel cut. "Ask for piecey layers that are longer in the front," says hairstylist Matt Fugate of the Sally Hershberger Salon in New York City. For a smooth look, run a styling lotion through damp hair, blow-dry with a round brush, and finish with a little pomade. Stunning!
Reese Witherspoon's bangs and layers: This long layered bog emphasizes her heart-shaped face, drawing attention the eyes and cheekbones. "The trick with a look like this is to not make the bangs too wide, or else it will appear dated," says Fugate. Ask for lots of layers in front, with a few longer ones in the back.
Kate Middleton's classic cut: It's a simple cut that frames the face and looks good on just about anyone. Ask your stylist for long, chunky layers with some framing around the face. When styling, apply a smoothing cream throughout hair and blow your hair out with a big round brush. Make sure you have a good, ionic dryer. Then, use hot rollers at the base to give it some extra volume. This is a great cut for women with thick hair, as it naturally thins out and controls a thick mane. If you want more of a boho look, like Mila Kunis's long wavy layers, ask your stylist to snip away at the ends of each layer, so they're wispy and soft.
Scarlett Johansson's textured bob: The textured bob is fun and flattering on just about anyone. Fugate recommends "asking your stylist to chop up and razor the ends and to check the length so it swings freely above the shoulders. Add a volumizing mousse to damp hair and let it air dry. Then finish it up by wrapping a few pieces around the curling iron and spritzing a beach spray throughout it.
Maggie Q's curly, natural cut: Ask your stylist for layers starting at the shoulders and to streamline the sides to avoid a puffy, pyramid effect. To style, simply spray a lightweight, leave-in conditioner through damp hair and let air dry. For enhanced definition and shine, says Allure, wrap sections of hair around a curling iron—but only at midshaft to keep that beachy look.
Emma Stone's heavy bangs: Ask for heavy bangs that start at the outer corners of your eyes, with the ends razored to lighten them up and lots of layers throughout the rest of the hair, especially around the face, suggests Fugate. That way, when your hair is pulled back, there will be loose strands that add shape to a simple ponytail. But steer clear of this cut if you have a cowlick or tight, coarse curls.
