Casual tabloid readers would probably assume that John Mayer's largest collection was his ever-expanding list of ex-girlfriends. Believe it or not, when the "Your Body is a Wonderland" singer isn't busy serenading women and making their boyfriends insecure about their own ability to do so (I have no personal experience with this situation whatsoever), he's curating his massive collections of watches, sneakers and, of course, guitars.
Mayer, whose new album Born & Raised arrives Tuesday, is said to have a personal guitar collection that exceeds 200 instruments. Perhaps that's why his romances with Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Taylor Swift, et al. never panned out – they were just too jealous of Slowhand Jr.'s Gibsons, Martins and Fenders.
"That would be the first on a long list of luxuries in my life," Mayer said about the 30 or so guitars he takes on tour in a 2010 UStream video. "This is like a guitar shop on wheels."

It could be Mayer's constantly-changing personality that gets in the way. In 2007, he explained to the New York Times that his watches dictate who he is on a given day. "On tour, I can't really carry around a lot of stuff. But you know what? I can pack a little roll of watches and wake up in the morning in Milwaukee and look at the watches and go, 'Who do I want to be today through this one piece?'" His timepiece collection is reportedly worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Or maybe it's his sneaker collection that drives the women away. Back in 2006, it was estimated that he owns more than 200 pairs of vintage and limited-edition kicks. There are even several blogs dedicated solely to the singer's footwear. Those are some awfully big shoes to fill, ladies.
