Teen heartthrob and pop sensation, Justin Bieber recently suggested that the future King of England try taking the popular hair loss drug Propecia to combat his thinning hair, a trait which has plagued the men in his family for decades. Williams father Prince Charles, his uncle Prince Edward and his grandfather Prince Phillip from significant hair loss but none of the royals have ever received any treatment for this issue.
“I mean, there are things to prevent that nowadays, like Propecia ” the popstar mocked in an unprovoked attack which sparked controversy among hair loss experts and surgeons. Dr. Asim Shahmalak, a respected hair loss surgeon, retorted that the Prince’s receding hairline was no laughing matter and that unfortunately “around two per cent of patients who take Propecia suffer side effects, such as loss of libido.”
If Prince William began to take just 1mg of Propecia per day, there is a slight possibility that he could begin to suffer from a wide variety of sexually inhibiting side effects such as erectile dysfunction, impotence, low libido and gynecomestica which is an abnormal enlargement of the male breast tissue.
Prince William and his young wife, Kate Middleton, are eager to have children and produce another heir to the English throne. Considering
their hopes for the future, Propecia is not a valid option. In any case, it will not result in the Prince miraculously growing a full head of thick hair. It merely stops the balding in its tracks.
The respected doctor, did however, offer the royal some medical advice. He urged Prince William to deal with the issue immediately before he is left completely bald. He added that the Prince would need between 3,000 and 4,000 hair grafts which would involve repositioning hair from the back of his scalp to the front. This is a similar procedure to the one chosen by Wayne Rooney in 2009.
American actress, Jennifer Aniston disagreed with both the doctor and the popstar. In an interview with radio show host, Lisa Snowdon, she defended the Prince saying “I think he should just let whatever is happening, happen…If we see him with hair we’re going to be like: ‘Oh, he had a hair transplant.’ Look at Ed Harris . Come on… gorgeous!”
If a world renowned beauty like Jennifer Aniston can see beyond the gleam of the Prince’s bald head, we can be sure that Justin Bieber’s flippant remarks have done little to dent the Prince’s ego.
