Sam Heughan Enrolls in 'Oxford', Jon Hamm in Talks for 'Marjorie ...

Outlander star Sam Heughan has mostly kept his talents confined to the stage and small screen, but he's ready to take on his biggest feature film yet. He'll join Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) in Oxford, a romance film she signed up for a couple of months ago. At the time time, an offer was out to Theo James for the male lead but it will be Heughan, who has become a heartthrob due to the hit Starz series, has signed on for the role. Allison Burnett's screenplay centers on a college student (Benoist) studying abroad in England, who falls in love an arrogant young teaching assistant (Heughan) with terminal cancer. [Deadline]

Anytime Jon Hamm gets a chance to do comedy it's a good thing, so fingers crossed he agrees to star in Marjorie Prime, a sci-fi dramedy from writer/director Michael Almereyda (Experimenter). Based on Jordan Harrison's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, the story centers on an aging violinist violinist named Marjorie who, as her memories begin to fade, uses a service that provides holographic recreations of deceased loved ones as their survivors would like them remembered. Marjorie spends her remaining time with recreations of her daughter and son-in-law, and an imperfect version of her husband Walter (Hamm) as he looked when younger. [Deadline]

Garry Marshall is buying actors by the gross to cast his next humongous holiday ensemble, Mother's Day. Already with Julia Roberts, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, and Kate Hudson on board, he's now added Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland), Timothy Olyphant, Shay Mitchell, Jack Whitehall, Aasif Mandvi, and Loni Love.  What's it about? Have you seen New Year's Eve or Valentine's Day? You know what it's about.
