Today’s Jennifer Aniston‘s 45th birthday, and we bet she’s celebrating with a small glass of champagne, a healthy salad and a two-hour-long yoga session poolside. And we’d like to raise our own half-pour of bubbly to the star for her remarkable hair, body, skin and style over the past 45 years. Her wardrobe may not be the most surprising, but it is the most consistent, and for that, we salute her. Below, three of our editors pick our favorite-ever dresses of Jen’s.

Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: I will admit that I’m not the biggest fan of Aniston’s stylezzzzZZz — sorry, what was I saying? Oh yeah. So that’s why, whenever she does something the slightest bit different than her usual LBD/long loose hair routine, I sit up and take notice. That’s why this look from the 2009 Vanity Fair post-Oscars party is like the holy grail of good Jen looks for me: it’s got a tiny braid, a little texture and is not black. There’s even some sparkle to it! Since she hasn’t changed a bit since then, I’m hoping 2014 is the year she starts experimenting with color (she can leave her hair the same. It’s really shiny).

Whitney Little, Associate Producer: Nobody’s surprised when Jen shows up to a red carpet event in a black dress, but this Valentino couture creation, worn to the 2010 Golden Globes, brought such a level of drama without trying too hard. Between the low-cut, one-shoulder neckline and her trademark tousled waves, there was already plenty of sex appeal. But she topped it off with a thigh-high slit that may or may not have started a trend (looking at you, Angelina!).

Brittany Talarico, Associate Style Editor: Okay, my pick is a bit of a throwback from Jen’s Friends and Brad Pitt era. I remember watching her hit the red carpet in this Chanel column gown (at the 2004 Emmy Awards) and thinking, “She looks like a total goddess.” The actress was radiant in the white empire-waist design, and the gold beading played up her blonde highlights. She looked completely confident as she floated across the red carpet. I think she should even consider pulling a Keira Knightley and possibly recycling the dress for her wedding. Whaddaya say, Jen?
